Of This Place • A Juried Show Co-sponsored by TAG & Two Rivers Arts

  • This juried exhibit features place-based reflections on history, memory, landscape, and community within the context of America at 250 exploring the historic character of the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula—the landscapes, buildings, waterways, and the stories layered within them. This call is intentionally open and interpretive. Artists are encouraged to respond to history in ways that are literal, symbolic, abstract, or deeply personal.
  • Inspiration might come from architecture, working watermen, old roads and churches, family stories, or places where past and present quietly meet.

The juror for “Of This Place” is Ann Beverley Hundley Eubank, a native of Essex County. She graduated from St. Margaret’s School, attended St. Andrew’s College in North Carolina and VCU in Richmond were she was accepted into Painting and Printmaking.  She finished with a degree in education and Master of Education.  She went on to receive an endorsement in library science.  After teaching for twenty-two years in Hanover County and Essex she retired in Tappahannock.  She began painting with a local group of artists who later formed Tappahannock Art Guild.  She has continued with watercolor for over thirty years painting landscapes, rivers, creeks, and gardens and has shown her art at Richmond Public Library, Ashland Coffee and Tea, and Tappahannock Farmers’ Market.  Her work was represented in the American Embassy in Tajikistan and is included in many private collections.  Among her favorite subjects are landscapes, riverscapes, and the Dragon Swamp.  She is atmospheric and impressionistic, revealing her respect and love for nature.
