What is "Be The Cure Tappahannock"?

Local residents Lori Lenz, John Harvey, and Wanda Ryan created Be the Cure Tappahannock as a collaborative initiative to address several health related concerns in our area.

Local, regional, and state organizations (the Greater Richmond Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, the Ledwith – Lewis Free Clinic, and the Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation) are working together to raise awareness and funds in our small, rural community in Virginia.  Our goals are to inform citizens of the resources and services available and to increase services and programs in Essex County.

We call our events Be the Cure Tappahannock to represent our contribution to the ultimate resolution of these diseases – the cure.

"8 Squares for the Cure" Art Show & Sale

Anyone and everyone is invited to submit pieces for the Squares for the Cure show that will open August 28 and run through September 19. We hope everyone in the community submits a piece to this show, which is a fundraiser for Be the Cure Tappahannock , a community initiative  to raise money for Alzheimer’s and Breast Cancer research, and for the Ledwith Lewis Free Clinic.

We want everyone in the community to participate. If your group would like someone to lead a session for everyone to complete a 6×6 piece for the show, please contact info@tapparts.org and reference Squares for the Cure.  We have done sessions on needle felting, weaving, and painting, and we can tailor it for any age group. Join the fun!

TAG will be accepting donated pieces throughout the summer. Drop off during TAG’s opening hours, Thursday through Saturday, noon to 6pm, until August 22.

Artists may sign their work on the back, but there should be no indication of the artist on the visible front side of the work.
